Parent/Family Involvement
Parent to Parent – The Parent/Family Involvement Committee is offering this prevention program to all ECCC PTA’s free of charge. Created by a former Walton parent 18 years ago, it empowers parents to raises healthy, responsible kids in our increasingly toxic culture. Small groups of parents meet weekly for 4 weeks, watch a DVD presentation and hold discussions with a trained facilitator. Dates are available in March and April if your school would like to participate. Looking Toward the Future Conference
The Cobb-Marietta-Douglas Interagency Transition Council is offering parents, teachers, and students the opportunity to learn about services available to assist students in life planning after high school. Freshman Parents
On Febuary 4th, Kell will be hosting Freshman advisement. Parents are welcomed to attend at 9:00 am, 1:00 pm, or 6:00 pm. There is no need to RSVP. Parents will receive information on their students’ four year graduation plan, graduation requirements, and other opportunities to assist students in fulfilling graduation requirements.

This year’s school improvement survey is now available online at:

Your participation will provide feedback directly to our school about the quality of educational programs and services. Please take a few moments to complete the survey, which is available until February 12th, 2010. If you would like to complete a paper copy please stop by the front office.
It’s FAFSA Time
If you have a senior who is about to go off to college, then it is time for you to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This application assesses your income level, assets, etc. to determine your financial “need.” It also serves as your application for HOPE. For more information, click here.
Career Tech
Registration is just around the corner! Check out the Career Tech web page where you will find the course descriptions and Career Pathways for each of the CT areas! It is a great way to compliment your academic success!
Check out the Kell Co-op Work Program. Students may attend school for 1/2 day and work in a career field of their choice to earn school credit. See Ms. Kovachi for application to the work program. Remember–minimum day is unacceptable to most colleges. Co-op work internships are the way to go!

CLUBS
Cultural Diversity Club
Cultural Diversity Club and the French Club in conjunction with the Guidance Office are having a Water Drive to help the people of Haiti. They are collecting cases of water beginning Monday, February 1st. There is a contest to see which class has “the biggest heart” based on which brings the most cases of water. These cases of about 20 oz. bottles will be taken to Haiti by Dobbins Air Force on February 20th. So please bring your cases of water as soon as possible to the Guidance Office. Thanks so much for your help!

ATHLETICS
Face-Off Lacrosse Meeting
The 2010 “Face-Off” Lacrosse Meeting will be on Monday, February 8th at 6:30 pm (players report at 6:00 pm) in the KHS Cafeteria. Players who are selected for a boys or girls lacrosse team and at least one parent are required to attend this very important meeting. Please see the pre-season information letter for more details.
Kell Football
There is a mandatory parent and athlete meeting Thursday, February 11th at 6:30 pm in the Kell cafeteria for all rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders planning to play football in 2010.
Don’t Miss the 2010 Southern Showdown
One of the most exciting match-ups in Division 1 men’s lacrosse will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 13th at McEachern High School as #1 Duke takes on #19 Bucknell in the 2010 Southern Showdown. Tickets are $12.00 each and Kell Lacrosse receives a portion of the proceeds. Tickets can either be purchased on-line via PayPal (www.kelllacrosse.com) or you can bring a check payable to “Kell Lacrosse” to Coach Mac in the Media Center.
